Integrative Multi-System Psychiatric Assessment

Counseling Image Takashi Matsuki, M.D. Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist Office Image

Multiple inter-related systems, such as medical, psychiatric psychological, social, behavioral, lifestyle, cultural, and spiritual, shape your psychological well-being. Dr. Matsuki, trained in traditional psychiatry, psychoanalysis, and primary care medicine, works within multiple systems so that he has a broad understanding of issues affecting you, and then resolves these issues by developing a multi-system plan.

For his initial assessment, Dr. Matsuki needs 1 or 2 sessions, each of which takes approximately 60 minutes. A deep exploration of your current condition, current stressors, mental health history, medical history, and life history will be included in the comprehensive in-person assessment. In order to rule in or out any medical issue, which could manifest itself as a psychiatric illness, and also to explore any nutritional deficiencies that may be treated with supplements and life style modifications, it is often recommended to take diagnostic testing.

Dr. Matsuki, after thorough evaluation, will provide a personalized treatment plan that may include the following; recommended frequency and modes of treatment (psychotherapy, exercise program, diet modification, life style modification, medication management, supplement, management of underlying medical condition, etc.). Dr. Matsuki will refer you to appropriate specialists if he believes a treatment that is outside the scope of his practice is required for you.

Psychotherapy

Medications are only a part of the solution, although the medications can alleviate the harshness of your symptoms. In order to obtain the most successful outcome for you, ongoing psychotherapy in conjunction with medication management, as well as education about medication management, is often required. Psychotherapy helps you learn about yourself and create change in your life by providing a safe, confidential, and supportive therapeutic environment. With his training to treat people with a wide variety of psychological disorders, Dr. Matsuki is capable of helping clients understand and change complex, deep-seated and often unconsciously based emotional and relationship problems, which in turn reduces symptoms and alleviates distress. He also believes that many people will also benefit from psychotherapy when experiencing a loss of meaning in their lives or if they are seeking a greater sense of fulfillment.
